
The Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC) is a Schedule 3C PFMA entity owned by Blue IQ Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd, which in turn is one of the key investment promotion agencies of the Department of Economic Development (DED) of the Gauteng Provincial Government.
The AIDC is primarily supporting the Gauteng Province's industrial developmental aims and objectives as well as delivers strategic economic infrastructure to catalyze sustainable economic growth and to indirectly contribute to job creation, influence the composition of exports, and influence the diversification of Gauteng's GGP.
The AIDC's vision is to be the preferred provider of strategic solutions and Government projects to the South African automotive industry.
The AIDC's purpose is to be "The institutional mechanism focusing on effective project delivery in support of the Industrial Policy and other strategic initiatives within the advanced manufacturing sector".
The key message to industry remains: "your partner in becoming globally competitive".
The primary objective of the AIDC is to assist the automotive and greater manufacturing sectors within the Gauteng Province in becoming globally competitive, to do this the AIDC has 3 key focus areas:
Supplier Development (Enterprise development)
Skills Development and Training
Supply Chain Development (Logistics)
In support of the 3 key focus areas the AIDC has acquired specialized project implementation experience in supplier and enterprise development, supplier parks development, quality management, clean and lean production, supply chain development and logistics, industry facilitation and collaboration, employment and skills development, as well as productivity improvements and optimisation.
A key driver for the AIDC is to provide thought leadership and pursue a continuous improvement philosophy, to keep extending our capabilities to realize what we know is possible and impactful. Excellence is an important value and a goal that is constantly pursued at the AIDC. We pride ourselves on creating value by adhering to standards of excellence whilst pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
In all of its activities, the AIDC continues to focus on the needs of the automotive industry as represented by both assemblers and component manufacturers. Furthermore, it also works actively with all levels of government, thereby addressing national priorities through the automotive and recently, the aerospace sector.
